ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production. Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
Why do we use organic cotton at Aksem Baby?
We are proud distributors of a rich collection of organic cotton baby clothing and other textile items. Protecting the environment and cotton farm lands is important at Aksem Baby, so we aim to increase the use of organic cotton in our garments and use less of traditional cotton. We want to prove that organic cotton is not a luxury item anymore hoping that it will rise customers’ and other businesses’ demand for organic cotton textile and garments.
MODAL
Modal fabric is a semi-synthetic fabric made from the fibers of beech trees. The fibre produced from beech trees is incredibly soft and feels like silk when worn - it has twice the softness of cotton and feels amazing against your skin. Modal fabric is extremely hard-wearing and keeps its shape and finish, even after frequent washing. These properties make it useful as an underwear fabric and baby clothing fabric. Its silky texture also makes it comfortable for close-fitting intimate wear and is breathable. Unlike garments made from synthetic fibres like nylon and polyester, modal does not trap perspiration and odors. Modal is up to 50 percent more absorbent than cotton, so clothes never feel sweaty and sticky.
Why is modal fabric suitable for making baby clothes?
Modal fabric is naturally stretchy. It is widely known that modal has an incredibly soft touch. Modal is great for baby clothes as the fabric’s weave is very breathable. It is also highly moisture absorbent being 50% more absorbent than cotton. Modal’s textile structure is very strong because of the tight weave and the long fibers but yet it drapes very well. Similar to rayon and other silk alternatives, modal has a beautiful drape that makes it ideal for our products. The fabric resists pilling and has a smooth finish that makes it ideal for everyday wear and use. Besides all these advantages modal is made from regenerative plants and there are fewer chemicals used in the production process than with other types of rayon and it is 100% biodegradable. The fabric absorbs dye in warm water and does not release dye during the laundering process. Unlike most forms of rayon, modal is much less likely to shrink in the wash. Modal resists wrinkles and will stay smooth with minimal ironing.
